White After Labor Day

Happy Labor Day weekend everyone! Today I wanted to bring up the topic of wearing white after Labor Day. There are many theories on where the saying, "No white after Labor Day" actually came from. Back in the late 1800's/ early 1900's, people would leave their homes between Memorial Day and Labor Day. They would head to seaside cottages and cabins in the mountains and would leave behind all of their winter clothing. They would take only lightweight and light colored clothing with them. Then, after Labor Day came to an end, they would go back to their original homes and no longer wear the light colored clothing. The rule of not wearing white after Labor Day has supposedly just kind of stuck over the years. Nowadays, I personally feel like wearing white after Labor Day is not criticized as much. I tend to wear what is appropriate for the season. If the weather is warm, then I will still wear white. I also love a good winter white sweater! What are your thoughts? Do you still wear white after Labor Day, or is that a cutoff day for you?
