Spring Is Here!

Hey everyone! Well, it took multiple trips to coffee shops, bakeries and play dates with friends, but we finally made it to spring! Spending winter cooped up inside with a three year old can get a little crazy at times, but I wouldn't change it for the world!

Adelyn is growing up so fast! She was still taking naps as of last week, but this week she is telling me that she took naps when she was little, but now she is a big girl. She just asked me if she could shave her legs! I said, "No, you are three years old!" She said, "Nobody gets to have any fun around here." I think we are going to have our hands full with this one! Ha Ha!

Today, I'm wearing one of my favorite pullovers for spring! It's lightweight and perfect for this time of the year. I recently saw these Nike shoes online and fell in love with them! I am obsessed with these colors. How cute is Adelyn's jacket that we picked up at Target? They have SO many cute things in the kid's section right now. Joe and I were shopping for her one day and we finally just said that's it, we are leaving this section! We could have spent a fortune! I found her shoes online here at J.Crew and they are currently on sale!

I hope you all have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by today!

Spring Favorites

Happy Monday! The weekends always go way too fast, don't they? I'm so excited that the weather is starting to warm up a bit. Today I've rounded up some of my current spring favorites for all of you.

black and white striped tee: This is such a great basic tee and it's only $22!

side tie tee: I'm loving this modern side tie top and it comes in four different colors.

navy/white striped tank: Another great basic that could be easily layered under a spring jacket or cardigan.

coral/white striped tee: What can I say, I love stripes! Another cute little striped tee that comes in three colors for $25.

brown sandal: These are definitely on my wish list for spring/summer. They are the best basic sandal that could be worn with practically anything.

blush slides: I love these but they are a bit pricey. I think they would be great for the pool/beach.

necklace: How pretty is this necklace from Kendra Scott's spring collection? I love it!

tan sandal: I am loving these Birkenstock sandals and they would also pair easily with just about anything.

pink long sleeve tee: This cute Free People top is currently on sale and would be perfect paired with shorts this spring.

tote: I have this tote in the English Saddle color and I already want another color. It is the best basic tote!

ivory long sleeve top: I recently ordered this top online when I saw that it was on sale and it is even cuter in person. It comes in two other colors as well and is around $40.

grey long sleeve tee: Another great basic that could easily pair with shorts. It comes in ten colors and is $45.

I hope you liked my picks today. Have a great Monday!

Capsule Wardrobe: Spring Wardrobe and Closet Organization

Hey everyone! Has this been the longest week ever for anyone else? It's crazy what the time change can do! Today I wanted to share items that I will be including in my spring capsule wardrobe, along with my closet organization.

As I mentioned before in this post, I used three large, clear storage totes with each tote containing clothes for that particular season. I also kept a smaller tote that contains shoes that are off season. The current spring season is hanging in my closet. The number of storage totes used will vary from person to person, but just do whatever works the best for you. Since the weather can be a little unpredictable in the spring in Indiana, I kept a variety of clothes including tees, long sleeve tees, button up tops, lightweight jackets and sweatshirts. I am also including two cardigan sweaters, and one striped sweater that can be dressed up or down. As far as pants go, I kept two pair of denim jeans, one pair of black jeans, and one pair of white pants. I also have two pair of denim shorts and I still plan to add at least one pair of capri pants. I don't wear dress clothes often, so I did not include any in my capsule. I also did not include shoes, handbags or jewelry in the capsule, although I have significantly reduced the amount of each of these that I own. I tried to keep ones that are neutral in color and that pair easily with my outfits. I have a limited amount of comfortable sweatshirts and leggings that I wear often when I am at home that I kept in dresser drawers. The amount of pieces in each capsule will vary from season to season, but the idea is to keep it to a minimum and to make sure that you love every piece.

The idea of a capsule wardrobe is to save money, limit the stress of getting ready and keep clothes that you love to wear. You can read my post on why I chose to implement a capsule wardrobe here. A new capsule starts on the first day of each new season. A couple of weeks prior to the start of the new season is when shopping is done for the upcoming season. A few new pieces are purchased each season, and pieces are purged or donated when they no longer liked or no longer fit properly.

Once the new season starts, I plan to not shop for clothes unless there is something that I really need. (This will be the hard part!) I do have a small wishlist for upcoming seasons and will allow myself to make purchases only if I sell old closet items that I no longer wear. I will let you know what my thoughts are on a capsule wardrobe after this season. So far it feels so good to clean out and minimize!

I hope you all have a great weekend and thank you so much for reading!

Great Basics For Spring

Hello friends! We might have had snow flurries this week, but that didn't stop me from pulling out some of my spring favorites. Today I'm styling some great basics that can be worn practically any season.

wearing: top/ Target | earrings/ Kendra Scott | bracelet/ Kendra Scott | jeans/ Kancan | tote/ Madewell | flats/ Aldo

I've had my eye on this adorable Madewell top lately, but I was so excited when I spotted this similar version at Target for less than half the price! This is such a great basic top that can be worn by itself or layered under a cardigan or jacket. I've been carrying this tote non stop lately and it is such a great neutral bag. It goes with literally anything and it's just the right size. The only downfall is that the crossbody strap is a bit too short. Now, if the weather would just cooperate so I could actually wear this without a big coat!

What spring items are you most excited to wear? Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a great day!

Capsule Wardrobe: The Process I Took to Eliminate Clothing

Hey everyone! Happy Saturday to all of you. What do you all have planned for the weekend? We don't have too much going on this weekend, and that's ok with me. Today I wanted to share the process I took when eliminating clothing in my closet for my capsule wardrobe. You can also see this post to see why I implemented a capsule wardrobe.

First, I must say that this is a process and does not just happen over night. I feel like everyone has their own approach when it comes to eliminating and organizing their closet for their capsule wardrobe, but this was my approach and what I feel worked the best for me.

I purchased three large clear storage totes (sometimes people require more totes, but I only had room in my closet to store three, so this worked the best for me). It is best to use clear totes so that you are able to easily see what is inside. I lined the totes up on the floor and had a specific tote for each season. I hung the upcoming spring season in my closet for my current capsule. First, went through each piece of clothing one by one and ask myself the following questions. 1.) Is this a piece of clothing that I wear frequently or is it a piece that I never tend to wear? If I never wear it, then I put it in the pile of clothing to be sold or donated. If I tend to wear it occasionally, I will ask myself 2.) Do I love to wear it? 3.) Is it comfortable? 4.) Does it look good on me and fit right? If the answer to any of these questions was no, then I put it in the pile to be sold or donated. If it is was a piece that I love to wear, then I put it in the tote for the upcoming season that it can be worn. So, for example, if I had a vest that I love to wear and wanted to keep, but I wouldn't be able to wear it again until fall, then I put it in the fall storage box. I tried to keep staple pieces that I love to wear, won't tend to go out of style, will layer easy and that can easily be mix and matched. I also tried to keep my capsule true to myself, my style, and what I truly love. So for example, if it was an item that is still in style and worn be many people, but it just wasn't something that I loved, then it went to the sell/donate pile. I also used a smaller storage tote to store shoes that are off season and only kept shoes that I will be wearing in the current spring season in my closet.

Next week, I will share my current capsule and how I organized my closet. Please feel free to ask any questions that you have regarding a capsule wardrobe. I hope you have a great weekend!
